Like people, the pets at the Beverly Animal Shelter have different personalities. Some may be quiet introverts who don’t like crowds. Others may be outgoing rascals who may keep the family busy playing. Unlike people, the pets will not judge you. If you love them, they will love you unconditionally… Yes, even the cats.
LUCY
A charming dark brown tiger, Lucy is an unclaimed stray. Thought to be 1 to 2 years old, she is affectionate and playful. You won’t be bored when golden-eyed Lucy is around. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, micro-chipped and tested negative for both FIV and Fe-Leuk.
TEFFER
A beautiful girl with the softest fur, Teffer arrived on July 1, 2016. She was found abandoned in a parking lot in Waterloo after a tenant moved. Teffer is a Torbie (tri-color Tortis with Tabby cat stripes or swirls in their fur). Tortis and Calicos as well, are known to have a bit of “tude” (attitude). On the other hand, Torbies often have an easygoing attitude. They just don’t like to be picked up. However, they do love to be petted. We have Teffer, a dark Torbie. She has the face of a cat with “tude”. However, Teffer is a sweet girl who loves to be petted. She simply doesn’t like crowds. Teffer is 3 to 4 years old, spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, micro-chipped and tested negative for both FIV and FeLeuk.
BACCARAT
Another member of the brotherhood of felines evicted from del Lago, Mr. Baccarat was quite shy upon arrival at the Shelter. He is estimated to be 2 to 3 years old and did not trust people. Now this boy is out and about. A few months at BAS turned big gray tiger, Baccarat into a connoisseur of backrubs and cuddles. He is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, micro-chipped and tested negative for both FIV and Fe-Leuk.
LAST WEEK’S PETS – Talk is that Tutu from last week may have an adoption in the works. However, the black kitties Furby and Rex remain waiting for some human to enchant them.
SHELTER NEWS
The Beverly Animal Shelter is currently offering potential “barn” cats – neutered/spayed and vaccinated, friendly, outdoor cats who are good mousers, for $10. Please contact the Shelter for more information.
The new Integrated Veterinary Service has begun at the Beverly Animal Shelter. Although held only once or twice a month, the long wait for spay or neutering has been greatly reduced! Call the Shelter to make your appointment. They are now taking reservations.
DUE TO THE DECREASE IN GOVERNMENT INCENTIVES, THE LOCAL RECYCLERS OF ELECTRONICS HAVE CLOSED DOWN. THEREFORE, THE BEVERLY ANIMAL SHELTER IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING ELECTRONICS FOR RECYCLING.

Unfortunately, The Purina Pets for Seniors Fund has been DISCONTINUED. However, BAS is attempting to continue Senior adoptions on an individual basis through the generosity of others.

Why not take the opportunity to spend some playtime with your favorite canine. The Dave Pullen Memorial Dog Park at the Beverly Animal Shelter is open Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm. It is located on the front center grounds at the Shelter and has a double-gated entrance. It is free to the public (though the Shelter always appreciates any donations!), but we do require you to stop by the shelter staff (at the store) to show proof of rabies and distemper vaccinations. We want everyone, including your dog safe! We also ask that you please clean up after your dog. Come on out and give your pup a chance to run off lead in a safe and enclosed environment!

Please keep in mind when you enter the Shelter grounds, to adhere to the 5mph speed limit. A very sweet but deaf cat that had lived at the shelter for 17 years was killed because someone sped through the drive.
Dallyn, along with the ASPCA, would like to remind all cat owners of the importance (after spay and neutering) of cat collars (safety or breakaway) with proper identification for outdoor cats. The Shelter is overwhelmed by “found” but unclaimed cats. The hope of the Shelter is to be able to reunite the lost felines with their owners. Many types of collars are available for cats. Please, if you have lost your dog or cat, DO CALL the shelter. Do not wait for an advertisement of “found dog/cat” to appear in the newspaper.
Please be a responsible pet owner. Spay and neuter your pets to prevent more unwanted animals. ONLY YOU can prevent the overflow of kittens that begins each Spring and carries on into the Fall.
