As village officials prepare a 2017-18 budget this spring, they are also focusing on obtaining a share of Seneca County’s excess sales tax generated by the del Lago Resort & Casino and other new developments.
At Monday’s Village Board meeting — under new business — the board will consider a motion to approve the village’s request for the county to include the village’s proposed sales tax sharing plan into any county sharing and consolidation plan for possible referendum, as directed by the governor’s initiatives.
The village has proposed a plan whereby the county would keep all sales tax up to and including $23 million it budgeted as revenue for 2016. Any sales tax above that amount would be shared equally with the county’s 10 towns and four villages.
