Crews were called to 168 County Rd. 8 on Sunday around 3:36 pm, according to deputies in Ontario County for a house fire.
When crews arrived on scene they saw smoke exiting the ridge vent in the roof. The fire was believed to have started near a wood stove located in the basement of the house.
Fire crews contained the fire and extinguished the flames quickly. However, there were two dogs inside the home at the time. They were both found deceased.
No other injuries were reported. Farmington, South Macedon, Manchester and Port Gibson Fire Departments all helped at the scene. Victim Farmington Ambulance also assisted.
The cause is under investigation, according to deputies.
The owners of the home were identified as Daniel and Judy Cummings, both of Farmington.
