A Waterloo High School teacher under investigation has been placed on administrative leave.

According to New York State Police Investigator DiMarco, the male teacher in question has worked for the district for several years. It was reported to school officials in early February that the teacher allegedly made “some off-colored remarks” to a student. The school district turned the case over to state police just a few days later, DiMarco said.

A letter was sent home to parents of Waterloo High School students last Friday, February 17th alerting parents of the investigation. In the letter, Principal Susan Burgess advised that no student has “been physically harmed.”

The investigation is ongoing. DiMarco said the teacher’s name will not be released until an arrest is made should the evidence warrant such action.

No one at the high school could be reached for comment.
