Usually, when young Alex Mattei packs a suitcase he’s heading to the hospital for a medical procedure.

That will not be the case this coming weekend.

On Feb. 25, the 6-year-old will be traveling to Walt Disney World with his brothers and parents for a week-long vacation, courtesy of Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Alex has Chiari Malformation I, a condition that occurs when the skull is abnormally small or misshapen and brain tissue consequently extends into the spinal canal. He has undergone several surgeries in his young life, many of them far from home.
