Yankees ink first baseman Carter to 1-year deal

The New York Yankees have signed 1B/DH Chris Carter to a 1-year/$3.5 million deal. The ex-Brewer, hit a total of 41 HR’s last season which was tied for the NL best, and had 94 RBI’s and a .499 SLG. In 549 ABs, Carter produced a .321 OBP while striking out 206 times.

After rumors that the 30-year-old slugger would head off to Japan, the Yankees add another power bat, who will split time along with recently signed, Matt Holliday at DH. He can also be used as a platoon at 1B with left-handed hitting Greg Bird.
