A 55-year-old Honeoye man was arrested on January 19th after deputies completed an investigation into the possession of a weapon.
Deputies say that John J. Cheer Jr., 55, of Honeoye was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon after an investigation revealed that he was in possession of a PR-24 (billy-club) at his residence on Deuel Road in Bristol.
The weapon was located in his residence on January 18th by a probation officer during a court ordered search to seek out contraband in violation of the terms of his probation.
Also located were several rounds of high capacity magazines in violation of New York State Penal Law and further charges may be pending.
Cheer was arrested at the Ontario County Jail as he had been remanded there the day prior for a probation violation. The charges will be answered in Bristol Town Court.
