One person is dead after a two-car crash on County Road 4, according to deputies in Ontario County.
Crystal Roche-Mercado, 30, of Geneva was traveling west on County Road 4 around 12:30 pm on Monday, approaching the County Road 20 intersection, when a vehicle being operated by Michael Nichols, 32, of Rochester failed to stop at the intersection. The two vehicles collided causing both to enter into a ditch on the south side of the roadway. Roche-Mercado’s vehicle then came to rest on an embankment.

Deputies say that a passenger in Roche-Mercado’s vehicle, identified as Eliezer Ortiz-Santiago was pronounced dead at the scene by Ontario County Coroner Michael John.
Roche-Mercado was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital for chest and head injuries. While Nichols was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Phelps Ambulance for head and leg injuries.
Seneca Castle, Phelps, and Hopewell Fire Departments all assisted at the scene. Officials say that the Ontario County District Attorney’s Office will review the case following the completion of the investigation.
