Waterloo woman sent to Strong after accident with box truck on SR 96 in Phelps

A Waterloo woman was sent to Strong Memorial Hospital with head pain following an accident that occurred on State Route 96 in the Town of Phelps.

Deputies with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office report that Christopher Corter, 37, of Rochester was traveling west on Route 96 when he slowed for an underpass. Deputies report that Corter was operating a large box truck.

Jessica L. Swartout, 26, of Waterloo was traveling west behind the box truck and failed to stop in time as the truck slowed. She struck the truck from behind and complained of head pain after the airbags failed to deploy inside her vehicle.

She was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment and issued a citation for following too closely.
