Health department: Latest tests show no toxins in Owasco and Auburn’s treated water

The Cayuga County Health Department said Wednesday in a release that no toxins were detected in the town of Owasco and the city of Auburn’s treated drinking water. Samples were collected Tuesday afternoon and results came back Wednesday afternoon.

The health department said it will continue to monitor the public water supplies and collect samples daily for analysis until toxin levels are consistently not detectable in the treated water. The New York State Department of Health said the daily testing recommendations are above the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s minimum recommendation of two to three times per week, until toxin levels reach non-detect in finished water for three consecutive samples.
