Dresden man charged with reckless driving, nearly struck patrol car head on

On August 3, at approximately 4:45 pm a Dresden man was arrested for passing a vehicle on a blind curve driving 80 mph — nearly striking a patrol car head on.

Deputies from Seneca County say that Matthew Easling, 30, of Dresden nearly caused a head on crash with officers on Whiskey Hill Road after attempting to pass a vehicle on a blind curve in Junius. Deputies say that Easling then attempted to avoid officers by parking behind a residence, next to a barn on the property.

He was charged with reckless driving and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. Easling was arraigned in Junius Town Court where he was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000.

New York State Police and their K-9 unit also assisted at the scene.
