Stanley man charged with stealing $24K

Police in Canandaigua charged a 22-year-old with grand larceny following an investigation into stolen checks. The Canandaigua Police Department reports that Taylor J. Morely, 22, of Stanley was charged with three counts of grand larceny in the third degree, as well as three counts of forgery in the second degree. Morley is accused of stealing $24,606 from another person by stealing checks and then forging the victim’s signature. The crime occurred in November of last year, and was arrested by U.S. Marshall’s on unrelated federal charges. He was transported back to New York State to face the charges in Ontario County.Morley was arraigned in Canandaigua City Court and remanded to the Ontario County Jail with no bail. However, he is being held in Steuben County currently on unrelated charges.
