Steuben Sheriff to retire this December

Tuesday afternoon Steuben County Sheriff David V. Cole announced through a press release that he would be retiring after 41 years in law enforcement. His run as Sheriff of Steuben County will formally end in December.His services, which spanned more than four decades, included time with the Wayland Village Police Department, New York State Police, Addison Village Police Department, and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office. He served nine years as undersheriff in Steuben County, before serving four years as sheriff. Cole said in a statement that he would like to thank the dedication of those members of law enforcement who he worked with throughout his career. He also thanked the citizens of the communities he served as sheriff. Sheriff Cole also announced that Undersheriff Jim Allard will officially declare his candidacy for the sheriff’s seat.
