Police work to ID identity theft suspect

Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a woman accused of stealing a number of items from Lowe’s in Auburn. In addition, the woman is accused of returning the same merchandise she had stolen in exchange for a gift card of equal value to the stolen merchandise. She used stolen identification when completing the return transaction. The initial transaction is believed to have occurred on April 14th, according to deputies.Deputies also believe that the subject may have pawned or sold the Lowe’s gift card for cash after committing the larceny.
