The 8th Annual Ride For The Red motorcycle run will be held Labor Day weekend to raise funds for the American Red Cross – Finger Lakes Chapter’s local services, including the Services to the Armed Forces program. The event is supported by Arkport Harley-Davidson and Southern Tier Harley-Davidson.The weekend kicks off on Friday, Sept. 2 at 5:30 p.m. with a short ride from Americas Best Value Inn, 196 South Hamilton St., Painted Post. The main event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3 from the American Legion in Big Flats. The ride will be led by NYS motorcycle Troopers through the beautiful Finger Lakes Region.Pre-registration online is highly recommended at the Red Cross web site at www.RedCross.org/CorningRideForTheRed by Aug. 19. On-site registration runs from 9 to 11 a.m. The ride leaves at 11:30 a.m. sharp.T-shirts are guaranteed for pre-registered riders and passengers, plus one commemorative bike flag for the first 100 pre-registered riders. Also included are meals after the ride. The pre-registration cost is $20 for the rider and $20 for the passenger. On site registration cost is $25 for the rider and $25 for the passenger (limited quantity of T-shirts available for sale day of the ride).The perpetual Chapter Challenge Award, similar to the Stanley Cup, will be awarded to the club with the most participating members.
