The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports that a bicyclist was riding westbound on Route 5 in the Town of Hopewell, when he drifted into the driving lane, and was struck by a vehicle traveling the same direction.The bicyclist, who was a minor from Canandaigua was traveling westbound on Route 5 when deputies say he drifted in front of traffic traveling the same direction as he. He was struck by a vehicle being operated by Bradley Stedge, 30, of Seneca Falls who was driving a 2010 Toyota. Deputies say the collision occurred close to the centerline of the highway, as Stedge moved into the eastbound lane to avoid hitting the bicyclist. The minor was transported from the scene of the crash by Canandaigua Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital with leg, back, and neck pain. The investigation concluded improper lane use on the part of the bicyclist, and no tickets were issued.
