The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on the evening of February 4th deputies performed a Sex Offender Sweep, which involved physically verifying the addresses of 54 registered sex offenders living in Seneca County. During the sweep deputies photographed and verified the addresses of those who were classified and registered as sex offenders. During this detail it was determined that two offenders were in violation and were subsequently arrested. Those arrested included:Nathan Jones, 35, a level two sex offender, who lives at 4868 State Route 96A, in the Town of Fayette was arrested and charged with offering a false instrument for filing, a Class E felony. The charge stems from Jones completing a false New York State address change form. Jones was arrested at his residence then transported to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center where he was issued an appearance ticket. Jones was processed and released to appear in the Town of Romulus on March 1st to answer the charges.Robert Kio, 41, a level one sex offender, in Watkins Glen after it was determined that he was no longer living at his registered address of 7442 State Route 414 in Ovid. Kio was charged with failing to notify of an address change, a Class E felony. He was arraigned in Covert Town Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bail bond. Kio will return to Covert Town Court to answer the charges on February 9th.Sheriff Luce stated that the Sheriff’s Office is committed to the constant supervision of the registered sex offenders that reside in Seneca County. The investigation into other offenders is on-going and more arrests are possible.
