Pultney St. forum in Geneva has changed location

The City of Geneva will be holding a public forum on Monday, March 30 at 6 pm to hear the results of the resident survey regarding the options related to Pulteney Street. The location has changed to the Hydrant Hose bingo room at 79 Geneva Street from the original location of the Geneva Neighborhood Resource Center. Individuals who are interested in attending the forum should park in the municipal lot and come in through the back bingo room door. Over 450 survey results have been collected to date. The survey will remain open until Sunday night to allow residents who are still interested in expressing their opinion an opportunity to do so. The survey can be found located at http://genevanrc.org/survey. There are two options regarding Pulteney Street. The first option states that the City of Geneva is preparing for the reconstruction of Pulteney Street between Hamilton Street and Jay Street in the South Lake Neighborhood. The project will entail reconstruction of water, sewer, and drainage utilities, pedestrian facilities including crosswalks and sidewalks, and restored pavement condition. The total project cost is $3.25 million, which the City is prepared to bond for. The second option that the City is evaluating is a concept whereby Hobart and William Smith Colleges contributes $1,250,000 to the reconstruction project. Under this scenario, the roadway between Performing Arts Center and St. Clair Street would be closed to through traffic. Emergency vehicles would still be permitted access. Hobart and William Smith Colleges would maintain the portion of the roadway that is closed to traffic and the City would not be responsible for plowing, pavement condition maintenance, or other maintenance activities along this section of road.
