Officials report that the structure fire just south of Clifton Springs on Pearl St., technically in the Town of Hopewell, was a defensive firefight only.
The fire broke out around 4 am, at a house still being built, according to reports on the ground. WHEC reports that the owner’s family was set to move into the home in less than a month.
Neighbors told WHEC that by the time they heard the fire trucks arriving on-scene, the home was fully-involved. When firefighters first arrived, they were unable to go on offense — resulting in the home being a complete loss.

Seneca Castle, Manchester, and Port Gibson fire departments all responded to the scene with varying levels of manpower and equipment.
Investigators are now on-scene, as the fire has been brought under control.
