On Sunday at 11:30 am Ithaca Police Officers on patrol responded to the area of Fairgrounds Memorial Parkway for report of a suspicious package. Upon arrival, Officers located the package which contained materials consistence with the illegal production of methamphetamine. Officers determined that additional resources were needed to safely investigate further. The New York State Police C-CSERT Team responded to process the location and package. Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance responded as well for precautionary medical/decontamination purposes.Ingredients and equipment that are commonly used to manufacture methamphetamines were located inside the package. Enough materials were located to substantiate the charge of unlawful disposal of methamphetamine laboratory material, a class E Felony. No arrests have been made and the investigation continues.
