On Monday at approximately 10:00 pm the Penn Yan Police Department arrested Gilberto Cintron-Melendez, age 38 of Penn Yan, after he allegedly assaulted his wife during a domestic incident on Saturday.It is alleged that Melendez , who is currently on NYS Parole, came home in an intoxicated state, punched his pregnant wife several times in the face until she lost consciousness, barricaded her in a bedroom, and unplugged phone services so she was unable to contact police.Melendez was charged with unlawful imprisonment 2nd degree, assault 3rd degree, criminal mischief 4th degree, and felony aggravated family offense. He was arraigned in the Penn Yan Village Court and remanded to the Yates County Jail with no bail due to three prior felony convictions.
