On March 3rd The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of animal abandonment from the Humane Society of Schuyler County at 124 Marina Drive in Montour Falls. The Humane society reports finding two cats that were abandoned on their property sometime overnight. The Humane Society reports they have signs clearly informing that anyone abandoning animals will be charged with animal abandonment. After an investigation, the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office alleges that Thomas J Wetzler from Montour Falls did commit the crime of Abandonment of animals under Article 26 of the Agriculture & Markets law section 355 a misdemeanor. Thomas Wetzler was arrested on March 16 and issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Village of Montour Falls Court on a later date.
