The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on July 16 at approximately 7:30 pm the Sheriff Deputies responded to State Route 96 in the Town of Waterloo for a two vehicle personal injury motor vehicle accident. A 2008 Volkswagen Beetle being operated by Linda A Smith, age 48 of 560 State Route 96 in Waterloo, was stopped in traffic waiting to make a left turn into her driveway when she was rear ended by a 2014 Toyota Corolla being operated by Kathryn M Stover, age 25 of 1080 Bauer Road in Lyons. Smith was transported to Geneva General Hospital by North Seneca Ambulance for neck and back pain. Stover sustained only minor injuries and was checked over by North Seneca Ambulance on scene. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and needed to be towed from the scene. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the registration on the Toyota Corolla was suspended for an insurance lapse and Stover was operating the vehicle with no insurance. Stover was issued citations for Driving on a Suspended Registration, No Insurance, and Following too Closely. Also assisting at the scene was Border City and Oaks Corners Fire Departments.
