Geneva, NY – Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association Youth Ambassadors are hosting Seneca Lake Academy at Geneva on March 18, 2017 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at Geneva High School.

Seneca Lake Academy at Geneva is a day of reflection, exploration and inspiration. Offering classes, like none you ever took in school, by dynamic, knowledgeable and passionate speakers on a variety of subjects relevant to better understanding Seneca Lake and its natural and cultural history. This free, public event features topics and speakers such as:

•The Honorable Harvest
Presented by: Freida Jacques, Onondaga Clanmother

•Waterways, Women and Industry, and the Seneca Falls Convention
Presented by: Walter Gable, Seneca County Historian

•The Bones of Seneca Lake: Geology as Life
Presented by: Adrianna Hirtler, Finger Lakes Naturalist

•Beyond Power: Hydroelectric on the Seneca-Cayuga Canal
Presented by: Julie Smith-Galvin, Gravity Renewables

•People, Land and Water: Stewardship in Seneca Lake’s Watershed
Presented by: Patricia F. Thompson, Finger Lakes Community College

•Vermicomposting: Making Fertilizer and Soil from Food Waste
Presented by: Jacob Fox, Organix Green Industries
