Museum-Quality Storage for Photos & Family Heirlooms with Kate Jacus of Archival Methods
Thursday, January 16 @ 11:30 pm - 1:30 amFree
Please join Historic Palmyra on January 16, 2020 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Alling Coverlet Museum, 122 William St., Palmyra for their first program of the new year, Museum-Quality Storage for Photos & Family Heirlooms with Kate Jacus of Archival Methods.
We all understand the importance of saving family history, and along with photos, most people are also saving other documents and artifacts for future generations to enjoy. These preservation goals require specialized products and procedures. In this hands-on workshop, Kate Jacus will share professional techniques for museum-quality storage solutions for photographs and heirlooms.
This 2-hour presentation will delve briefly into the science of what it means to be “archival,” and explore museum standards for handling and storage of photographs, negatives, slides, film, textiles, family documents, and common family heirlooms. If audience size permits, participate in a hands-on packing and storage of real objects. Door prize and sample materials provided by Archival Methods.
This event is no charge and part of Historic Palmyra’s monthly 3rd Thursday community programming. All are welcome!
