Council to Hear Presentations for
Economic Advancement Initiatives
A City Council work session has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 1st at 6:00pm at the Geneva Housing Authority (41 Lewis Street) for presentations and discussion on the Comprehensive Plan economic advancement initiatives.
The evening will have the following line-up:
– Jessica Hayes Conroy’s presentation on the analysis from the Let’s Talk Economic Opportunity dialogues, a City sponsored community project;
– A HWS Senior Seminar group presentation on potential economic advancement strategies; and
– A discussion on the task force formation, any potential short-term, mid or long-term action items, and further questions to explore.
The City of Geneva’s Comprehensive Plan is our guiding resource on steps that we need to take to reduce poverty and to take a serious look at the economic advancements opportunities that we have Geneva.
“The City is grateful for the collaboration with Tools for Social Change and community members for the Let’s Talk Economic Opportunity Dialogues and with a Hobart and William Smith Colleges student team from Professor Jack Harris’ Senior Sociology class for the research on potential economic advancement strategies. Community partnerships are at the heart of our community successfully moving the comprehensive plan forward,” Sage Gerling, Acting City Manager.
Tools for Social Change is hosting a community forum on the Let’s Talk Economic Opportunity Dialogues on May 22, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Geneva Public Library at 244 N. Main Street.
