Weedsport man killed after being hit by car on SR 34 in Sennett

It’s an active investigation, but it doesn’t appear that drugs or alcohol played a part in a Sennett accident that left one man dead. A Weedsport man has been identified as the victim involved in a fatal motorcycle crash over the weekend in Throop. Deputies in Cayuga County say that Joseph L. Savarese, of Weedsport was operating his Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Sine Rd. when he failed to negotiate a curve — going off the east shoulder of the roadway, striking a tree.... more

Multiple departments respond to fire at Auburn-area home

Multiple emergency agencies were called Monday evening to the scene of a fire at a Throop residence. Crews were dispatched at 5:54 p.m to 7463 Day Road near North Division Street Road.
