The organizers of Saturday’s Seneca Lake Academy at Geneva didn’t want participants to sit in lectures that resembled some dry C-SPAN book discussion.
“Our goal was to have engaging speakers,” said Jill Ritter, a member of Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association, which sponsored the day-long event at Geneva High School with the high school’s Green Club, headed by Sydney Mittiga, a junior who serves as the group’s president.
Kenan Baldridge of Rose said the organizers succeeded. He had attended a program presented by Adrianna Hirtler, a Finger Lakes naturalist with the Ithaca-based Community Science Institute. Her presentation focused on the connections between the geology of Seneca Lake and its life and culture.
