South Seneca voters pass $4.6M project – FingerLakes1.com Archive

Get ready for night games at South Seneca High School in Ovid. Voters passed a $4.6 million capital improvement project on Tuesday by a 70% margin at 341-135.The project will be eligible for $3.6 million in state aid, with the rest covered by use of capital reserve funds and the project will not increase school taxes.Superintendent of Schools Stephen Parker Zielinski issued the following statement to FingerLakes1.com on Tuesday night:“The district would like to thank all the community members who took the time to vote and let their voice be heard. For the committee working on the project, we are grateful for the months of work and appreciative for their representation of the community. From the beginning, the group emphasized building a proposal that the community could support, and tonight’s vote validates that effort. Thank you again!”Here are some of the upgrades included in the project:- An all-weather eight-lane track- A new grass field inside the track- Field lighting for night games- Additional parking- New bleacher seating and concession stand upgrades- Replacement of backstops at the baseball and softball fields.- Accessible restroom facilities and walkways- LED lighting inside the high school
