Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two car fatal motor vehicle accident which occurred on NYS Rt. 41A near Atwood Rd. in the Town of Summerhill at approximately 9:30 am on Sunday morning.The driver, who was the sole occupant of a passenger car travelling southbound on Rt.41A, lost control of the vehicle in slush and travelled into the path of a northbound pickup truck, colliding with the truck in the northbound lane.Officials said Allysa Medler, 20, of Cortland County lost control of her vehicle because of slushy road conditions. They said she then traveled into the path of a Chevy truck driven by Daniel Warner, 46, of Homer.Medler was pronounced dead at the scene.The driver of the pick up truck, Warner, was airlifted to University Hospital and is being treated for what appear to be minor injuries.Both victims were wearing seatbelts.The investigation is continuing. All names are being withheld pending family notifications.
