In an effort to help local children, families and individuals in need during the holiday season, M&T Bank today announced a combined $21,000 donation to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and seven other regional food pantries, nutrition programs and hunger-relief charities throughout the region.
“The holiday season is an especially busy time for the local organizations that make such a big difference to those in need in our community,” said M&T Bank’s Regional President Peter Newman. “Through these grants, we hope to show them we appreciate what they do on behalf of all of us to keep our community strong.”
The following non-profit organizations received donations from M&T Bank:
- Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW)
- Cortland County Area Agency on Aging’s Nutrition Program
- Food Bank of the Southern Tier
- Loaves & Fishes of Tompkins County
- Meals on Wheels of Western Broome
- Roots & Wings – Catholic Charities of Chenango County
- Tioga County Rural Ministry (TCRM)
- Towanda Area Christian Outreach (T.A.C.O.) Food Pantry
“Hunger impacts families and seniors throughout every neighborhood and region across the Southern Tier,” said Natasha Thompson, President and CEO of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. “While the need exists throughout the year, the holiday season can be especially challenging for our neighbors in need. We are thankful for M&T’s commitment to this issue and their generous support which ensures we can continue to provide services at a critical time of year.”
M&T Bank is a longtime supporter of these organizations and the donations announced today are in addition to the more than $180,000 combined that the M&T Foundation has directed to these non-profits since 2010.
