Is the future of the Syracuse-Georgetown rivalry in jeopardy?
The ACC, the league that raided the Big East for Syracuse along with several other schools back in 2013, could threaten to end the old Big East feud with its move to a 20-game conference schedule in the 2019-20 season.
The ACC’s decision to go from 18 to 20 league games means that each school will play two games against conference opponents in November and December. That change will cause some schools to adjust their non-conference schedules.
“TV wants these two games,” Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said recently. “OK. You’ll get those two games, but next year Syracuse won’t play Villanova and St. John’s. Why would I do that? You’re going to get something, but you’re going to lose something, too.”
