Deputy recovering after patrol car involved in three-car crash in Macedon

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports that a three-car collision sent a Sheriff’s Deputy to the hospital on Sunday.

The crash happened on State Route 31 at the Canandaigua Road intersection around 12:15 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that while en route to an emergency call, and while operating in ‘emergency mode’, a marked patrol car was southbound on Canandaigua Road and was attempting to cross the Route 31 intersection.

Meanwhile, a vehicle traveling east on Route 31, operated by Geoffrey Warren, of Fairport — collided with the patrol car as it attempted to cross, which then struck a third vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office says the deputy was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by Macedon Ambulance and was treated for minor injuries. The deputy has also been released since, according to authorities.

The crash is still under investigation.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Macedon Town Ambulance, Macedon Police Department, New York State Police, Walworth Ambulance, Wayne County Advanced Life Support, South Macedon Fire Department and Macedon Center Fire Department.

The deputy was not identified in a press release to the media.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
