UPDATE: Pickup driver identified, remains in critical condition after Sempronious crash

State Police say that one person was seriously injured in a crash that happened Friday afternoon in Sempronious.

Around 2:45 pm a crash was reported to law enforcement between a tractor-trailer and pickup truck at the intersection of Route 41 and Sayles Corners Road.

Troopers say that one driver was taken to Upstate University Hospital with serious injuries — while the other was not injured.

Authorities say Stephen Zelsnack, 48, of Marathon, failed to stop his pickup truck at a stop sign and ran into a tractor trailer driven by Timothy Shattuck, 55, of Savannah. Troopers say he was critically injured in the accident, and remains in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital.

A portion of Route 41 was shut down until 11:20 p.m. as crews worked at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to Troopers.

Multiple fire departments were reported on scene, including New Hope, Sempronious, and Moravia. Four Town Ambulance was also called to the scene.
