Deputies say a driver involved in a head-on crash in Newfield on Sunday, which resulted in three people being seriously injured – happened after one driver was under the influence of alcohol.
It happened on Shaffer Road in the town of Newfield just after 7 p.m. Sunday.
State Police say 27-year-old Andrew Sampson of Horseheads crossed the center line, hitting an oncoming car head-on.
Three people in the car were flown to a Syracuse hospital with serious injuries, according to law enforcement.
Sampson is charged with first-degree vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana.
