The Cato-Meridian Central School District was greeted with a surprise $15,000 donation Tuesday morning.
Dollar General gave the principals for the elementary, middle school and high schools unexpected $5,000 donations for literacy and education initiatives, according to a press release. The donations were a part of a gift due to Dollar General’s “Thanks Giving” holiday campaign.
The schools will be able to use the funds as they see fit by spending it on books, technology programs or other educational resources.
“Dollar General is very passionate about its mission of Serving Others, and we are excited to surprise the Cato-Meridian Central School District with donations to further their reading and literacy programs,” Ronnie Memoli, Dollar General’s district manager, said in a press release. “We hope these donations will help equip each school with the tools and resources it needs to improve the learning experience for students.”
