Lodi Park State Marine Park reopens Saturday

Lodi Point State Marine Park will reopen to the public Saturday, more than two months after it was devastated by flash flooding.

The park was closed after the Aug. 13-14 flooding caused several feet of water, mud, rocks, branches and other debris to flow downhill from creeks near Upper Lake Road into the park, depositing boats, docks, sheds, household items and even vehicles into the water on the southeast shore of Seneca Lake.

After the flooding, the park was used as a staging area for equipment to remove debris and clean up the park. Debris was piled up in the park and hauled away for recycling or landfilling.

The reopening was announced by the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

The office also announced that all services at Sampson State Park marina in Romulus will end for the season Saturday. A planned capital improvement project at the marina will then begin, with a reopening targeted for next spring. Until then, Lodi Point and Seneca Lake State Park marinas are alternate options for boat launching, the state officials said.
