Hobart’s upset bid falls short at RPI

The Hobart College football team amassed over 200 yards and reached the end zone twice in the fourth quarter, but came up short in its upset bid of nationally-ranked Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at East Campus Stadium this afternoon. The Statesmen twice got within a touchdown in the final three minutes of the game, but the Engineers held on for a 31-24 win to remain unbeaten on the season.

Hobart outgained RPI 449-410, but the Statesmen had a punt blocked that led to an Engineer touchdown and two drives ended on interceptions. Junior quarterback Ryan Hofmann completed 28 passes for 295 yards and pair of touchdowns, while first-year quarterback David Krewson completed six passes for 70 yards and a TD. Junior wide receiver Jake Catalioto pulled in a game-high nine passes for a game-high 106 yards. Classmate Ray Conley caught five passes for 80 yards, including two TDs.
