Police say a person walking in the northbound lane of Route 34 in Sennett was struck and killed during an early-morning incident on Saturday.
It happened around 3:06 am when first responders were called to the area for the report of a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian. That person, according to police, was walking down the middle of the northbound lane.
The driver of the vehicle wasn’t injured, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was closed for several hours, and didn’t reopen until 8:06 am.
The Auburn Police Department, Sennett Fire Department, Throop Ambulance, American Medical Response ambulance and the Cayuga County 911 Center assisted with call, police said.
The victim was not identified, nor was the driver. However, the entire incident remains under investigation, according to police.
