Junior from Red Creek HS killed in Arcadia crash

The Times of Wayne County reports that a 16-year-old from Red Creek was killed in a crash that happened Monday night in Arcadia.

Deven Jackson, 16, was killed in the crash on Blue Cut Road. Sources tell the Times that the car he was in left the roadway – struck a utility pole, flipped, and landed in a field.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Red Creek Central School District released the following statement on Tuesday:

“Our school community is grieving, and we extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to Deven’s family and friends. Today, our district’s top priority will be supporting the needs of our students and staff. School counselors (including school counselors from area component districts) will be available to provide counseling and care for all students and staff. As our district moves forward, we will continue to focus on the needs of our students and ensure all necessary supports are provided.”

The accident remains under investigation.
