Deputies say one person was airlifted from the scene of a Wolcott accident along Chapman Corners Road on Friday.
It happened when 89-year-old Donald Odell, of Wolcott was traveling down the roadway, passing an intersection – which was followed by his car leaving the opposite side of the roadway.
He struck a grassy ditch, and the vehicle flipped multiple times.
Deputies say its unclear why his car left the road initially.
He was transported to Upstate University Hospital by Mercy Flight and treated for serious injuries. Deputies said on Monday that Odell died from the injuries sustained in the wreck.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Wolcott and Red Creek fire companies, Eastern Wayne EMS, and Wayne County ALS.
