Police: Auburn woman bought children’s Halloween costumes with stolen card, possessed taser

A 22-year-old Auburn woman is under arrest after allegedly stealing some belongings from a Fingerlakes Mall, then being found with a taser. State Police say Jessica Richardson went to the mall on Monday to fill out a job application.

Later in the day, troopers say Richardson returned to the mall to retrieve her cell phone, which she had left behind. That’s when Richardson allegedly swiped a purse and wallet from an employee and used a debit car to buy two Halloween costumes.

When troopers arrived to arrest Richardson, they discovered she had a taser in her purse and was the subject of two warrants in Buffalo.

Richardson has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and grand larceny. She’s due in court next week.
