Police ask for help in identifying man that grabbed Ithaca teen

The New York State Police are asking for help identifying a suspect who reportedly left his vehicle and attempted to grab a teenage girl last week.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6-foot-2, with brown or red short hair and beard, no mustache.

Troopers are investigating a suspicious incident that was reported to have occurred around 3 p.m. Aug. 29 in front of the Trinity Lutheran Church on Honness Lane in the Town of Ithaca.

A vehicle approached a teenage female on the sidewalk, and the operator grabbed the female by the arm and pulled her toward him. The female was able to break away and the man chased her, according to state police. The female escaped the suspect, who then fled the scene.

The suspect’s vehicle was described as a white SUV, possibly an older-model Toyota Highlander.
