About Evening of Remembrance Ceremony
The Sept. 11th 2001 Evening of Remembrance March/Walk and Ceremony was organized by the Officers and Firefighters of the Ovid Fire Department more than fifteen years ago, to be first conducted on Sept. 11th 2002. We (Ovid FD) have continued doing this Sept. 11th 2001 Evening of Remembrance March/Walk and Ceremony every year since. The first year(2002), we(Ovid FD) had wide participation and attendance. As the years have past, the attendance and participation has dwindled. Our event has always been supported by members of the Fire, Police, and EMS/Ambulance agencies in Seneca Co. The Ovid VFW and American Legion have always supported and attended our event year in, year out. The Ovid Fire Department for the last several years has had a Sept. 11th. Committee. This years committee, as it has been for the last few years, is comprised of; Carlos Young (Fire Police Capt.) Chairman, William Palmer (Fire Chief), Alvin Deming(1st. Asst. Fire Chief). Numerous other Ovid FD Officers and Firefighters always step up to help out the committee in different areas throughout the preparations and the event.
