Waterloo man with previous DWI charged with felonies after Monday incident

On Monday at 7:38 pm police say they arrested a 30-year-old Waterloo man on felony DWI charges after an attempted traffic stop and brief pursuit.

Stephen C. Kuti, 30, of Waterloo was arrested following a traffic stop. Police say Kuti’s vehicle was traveling south in the northbound lane on Bauer Road, and did not have front license plates, as required by law.

Police activated their lights to perform a traffic stop, but say Kuti turned onto County House Road, failing to stop at the stop sign. He continued to travel at a high rate of speed westbound on County House Road before eventually pulling into his driveway and running on foot to the back of his residence.

He was taken into custody at the rear of his residence without further incident.

Kuti was found to be operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was charged with failure to keep right; no front plate; and failure to stop at a stop sign, all violations.

In addition he was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with a BAC of 0.18 percent or more, both felonies due to a prior conviction in 2009.

The Seneca Falls Police Department was assisted by the Seneca County Sheriffs Office.

The Sheriffs Office issued traffic tickets for speed in zone and reckless driving.

Police say Kuti was processed and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Seneca Falls Court on October 10th at 12:00 pm. He will also have to appear in the Town of Fayette Court for his violations in the Town of Fayette.
