Nearly 500 employees at Tops Friendly Markets will be laid off by November, according to a WARN notice posted to the New York Department of Labor website.
Ten stores are slated for closure, of which two are located in the immediate Finger Lakes region. Those locations in Lyons and Geneva serve as primary grocery store options for those living in each community.
The notice indicates that 492 employees will be laid off, which is scheduled for November 27th. According to the notice, 79 of those employees will be laid off at the Geneva location.

The filing leaves 67 employees unaccounted for, which are likely employees of the Lyons location, which was also not included on the filing.
The announcement that seven locations in the region would close was made last week.
Tops said last week that severance packages would be made available for those employees who qualified.
