Penn Yan farmer airlifted after accident involving baler

First responders say a 62-year-old Penn Yan farmer was operating a hay baler, when the brake stopped working – resulting in him being run over by the wagon.

They say Andrew J. Davis, Sr., 62, of Stryker Road attempted to climb onto the tractor to stop it, but he was knocked down by the rear wheel and run over by the attached baler.

He was conscious and able to call 911, which allowed first responders to make it to his location. However, he suffered serious injuries to his pelvic area – and was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital.

He’s listed in guarded condition at this time.

The entire incident took place more than 500 feet off the roadway.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
