The Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit in Wayne County says three Lyons residents were arrested following a months-long investigation into the misuse of food stamps.
Cleve L. Catchings, 35, and Susan M. Hurd, 37, both of Geneva Street in the Town of Lyons were charged with Misuse of Food Stamps and the Sale or Exchange of Assistance Supplies.
It is alleged that on July 1st Catchings sold $74.19 worth of items that he purchased with his SNAP benefits to Niki A. O’Sullivan in exchange for marijuana. On July 13th Susan M. Hurd sold $48.61 worth of items that were purchased with her SNAP benefits to Niki A. O’Sullivan in exchange for marijuana.
Niki A. O’Sullivan, 26, of Williams Street in the Town of Lyons was subsequently arrested for the Sale or Exchange of Assistance Supplies for purchasing the SNAP benefits from Catchings and Hurd.
Catchings, Hurd, and O’Sullivan were all released on appearance tickets and are to appear before the Town of Lyons Court at a later date to answer to the charges.
