An Auburn man is facing criminal charges after allegedly strangling a former girlfriend.
Auburn Police Chief Shawn Butler said Brian D. France got into a confrontation over money with the woman at her Venice Street home Aug. 11. France began taking the woman’s front door off its hinges, and the two fought on her front lawn, Butler said. Butler said the woman slipped out of her shirt to escape from France and ran inside the home.
France then came into the house and took the woman off her feet while choking her, Butler said. The woman almost lost consciousness, but France eventually let go and fled, Butler said. Butler said the woman reported the incident at 11:29 p.m. and refused medical treatment at the scene.
