The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Newark man for falsely reporting an incident, making a punishable false written statement, assault, and endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation.
Jeremy L. Austin, 27, of Newark was arrested after he reported that his three week old child was sexually assaulted by a male friend that was visiting his Lyons home.
Deputies say he gave a false written statement that he witnessed this happen to his child, and later recanted and told police that he made up the allegations up because he was mad at the male friend.
After further investigation, it was found that the same three week old child was brought into the doctor’s office on August 10th with an injury and red mark on the child’s right arm. Austin reported to the Doctor and CPS that he did not know how the injury and mark got on the child’s arm, and then later admitted to detectives that he accidentally burned the child with a marijuana pipe on her arm.
This injury took place at 35 Geneva Street, apartment 3, in the Town of Lyons.
Austin was arrested and arraigned in the Town of Lyons Court, where he was remanded to jail in lieu of $200.00 cash bail or $400.00 insurance bond.
A stay way order of protection was issued by the Court, protecting the child.
